Lilly Singh is back on YouTube. This time, shes doing it for herself.
Lilly Singh returned to YouTube on Oct. 15 with her first sketch in nearly five years, titled "My First Day Back at YouTube." The 38-year-old comedian, known as Superwoman, is launching a new era that blends situational comedy, cultural commentary, personal vlogs, higher-production formats, and collaborations, with fan-favorite characters set to return. She says the content will reflect what she’s going through now and what her friends are experiencing, moving away from the early YouTube era’s high-school crush jokes. YouTube has evolved into an ecosystem where creators can build production companies and original programming outside traditional gatekeepers. Singh previously crossed into mainstream TV as the host of NBC’s A Little Late With Lilly Singh (2019-2021), becoming the first woman of Indian descent to host a late-night show on a major American network. She has since acted, produced, and written, including co-writing, producing, and starring in the 2025 comedy Doin’ It. She has described feeling creatively restricted inside Hollywood’s system, and her return to YouTube is driven by a desire to recapture joy and creative freedom, not the pressure of chasing every video hit. She emphasized that this phase is about having fun again rather than chasing viral hits. The move reflects how today’s creators can shape their own paths on the platform, rather than relying on gatekeepers.
